FAQ

Where is Jamahkiri?

Jamahkiri Resort and Spa is on the far east side of Thian Og Bay on the south coast of Koh Tao, a beautiful small tropical island in the Gulf of Thailand near Koh Samui and Koh Phangan.

How can we get to Koh Tao?

The easiest way is by boat via the island of Koh Samui, which is relatively close and has an airport with many daily domestic flights to and from all major airports in Thailand, as well as several international locations. We recommend this method of travel. Alternatively, boats to Koh Tao can also be boarded at the city of Chumphon, which can be reached easily by bus, minibus or train.

From Chumphon and Koh Samui there are two boat companies, with two daily services each, to and from Koh Tao :

1 – Lomprayah High Speed Catamaran at www.lomprayah.com
2 – Seatran Discovery at www.seatrandiscovery.com
The trip from both locations takes approximately two hours. For departure and arrival times please check their websites above. Tickets can either be booked directly online.

Does the resort provide free transfers?

We do not provide free transfers to and from Koh Samui. These can either be booked directly online (see above).

We do provide free transfers from and to the pier in Koh Tao upon arrival and departure. A member of staff carrying a Jamahkiri signboard with your name will be waiting to assist you with your luggage and take you to our comfortable office next to the pier. From there it is a distinctive 15 minutes ride, before arriving at the resort for a complimentary welcome drink.

How far is Jamahkiri from the pier / town?

Koh Tao has three main areas which offer facilities for visitors – Chalok Baan Kao is 2 km away, Mae Haad (pier area) is 3 km away and Sairee Beach is 4 km away. All three are less than 20 minutes by car / taxi from the resort.

Does the resort have a free shuttle service?

Yes, we offer a free shuttle service THREE TIMES A DAY, from the resort to our office in Mae Haad (pier area), as well as back to the resort.
TAXIS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE ALL DAY LONG.

Is the resort on the beach?

The resort has its own small but comfortable private beach with sun loungers and umbrellas. The island’s most beautiful beach, Thian Og Bay, is less than 100 meters away, directly over the water from us, and can be reached easily with our free boat shuttle or by kayak.

What is the difference between the rooms and pavilions?

All our accommodation was designed to the highest standards and equipped with all the modern facilities and amenities you expect from a 4 star resort, such as 24 hour electricity and hot water, air-conditioning, etc. The difference between the rooms and pavilions is the location. Our pavilions and suites are independent bungalow, located along the steep hillside ending in Thian Og Bay. Guests with reduced mobility, please contact us before booking.

As part of a larger structure, our Deluxe Rooms are hosted in our hotel wing which is located directly on the seafront.

Will we really have a sea view?

Absolutely. All our rooms, pavilions and suites have full, uninterrupted, stunning sea views.

Can we do some snorkeling at the resort?

Yes, and we highly recommend it ! Many fish, and black tip sharks, quite exciting to see while simply snorkeling in shallow water, in front of the resort. We offer rental of masks, kayaks, snorkels, fins and free life jackets at our diving club, which is located right on the water’s edge.

What else can we do during our stay?

Where to begin? With its clear, warm, safe tropical waters, extensive, different dive sites and beautiful corals, fish and sea life, Koh Tao is famous for its beauty under the water as well as over it. While staying with us, guests can enjoy scuba diving in Koh Tao, whether as a beginner, just looking to try it out, or interested in becoming a certified diver, with our fully equipped PADI accredited diving club. Our diving club also organizes private boat trips around the island.

Jamahkiri Spa, the only real spa on Koh Tao approved by the Ministry of Public Health, is well worth to visit, being the most well known on the island and offering a wide range of treatments as well as packages.

Our swimming pool, complete with waterfall feature and whirlpool, is perfect for having a refreshing swim, or simply relaxing in piece and quiet while enjoying the breathtaking views. And of course relaxing at the beautiful beach is only a stone’s throw away.

Outside the resort, the island has much to offer: Watersports such as apnea, snorkeling, climbing, hiking and abseiling. You can also rent a motorbike or ATV and explore the island. There is a bowling, petanque and mini-golf place. You can take Thai kickboxing lessons or simply watch a fight at the stadium. Yoga, Reiki or why not cooking classes, to learn to prepare some Thai food. And of course there are countless options for eating, drinking shopping and night life clubs.
